Day 18

I did do a painting today. It was titled Happy Wedding in honor of my sister. Jack bumped me at the end of the picture and ruined it for me, then, my dad started wiping the table I was working on and caused more jiggling and my mom added to the mix when she started drinking coffee. THIS is why I can't sleep in!

I have been doing wedding events and parties all day starting at 10:30 this morning and ending just now. I am wiped out- in a good way, nevertheless, I just want to go to bed and start sleep in, not that the children will let me. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Day 16 & 17

Black Birds in a Cherry Tree

From my childhood experiences in our orchard.

Day 16

Collage
Couldn't quite finish this on the actual day, had to finish it later, but I had a good start. My goal is to do a piece of art-mini art everyday. This week has been very challenging be in Savannah and participating in a week long celebration of my sister's wedding.

Day 15

Morning View

I have the pleasure of waking up to this beautiful scene every morning. I sit outside and paint while the rest of the plantation seemly sleeps. But, I know that is not true, because every morning this beautiful golden retriever runs up onto the veranda and gives me a wiggle and a kiss.

This was my second painting of the morning

Day 14

Apple Art

I was in Scotland with friends and saw an exhibit, it was a room with a narrow ledge against the walls, all along the ledge were evenly spaced apples, in the back round was the sound of someone eating an apple.

Pony rides on Easter

I thought it was so cute how they decorated the little ponies for the children to ride, my dream come true, animals wearing flowers.

The pony is Golden Aspen and lives on the Ford Plantation in Georgia

Day 13

Savannah Houses

This is going to be a challenge, to much partying not enough painting. Tomorrow, I 'll get up early and get to it.

Day 12.5

Smoothie

My goal is do to art everyday. Today, or yesterday, it was a challenge, but I did it. I had to leave for the airport at 5:15 am, which is my art time. I knew I wouldn't have a chance to do art for the rest of the day, so it had to be travel-time artwork. I couldn't exactly take acrylics with me, couldn't get them thru security, so I use pencils and I thought this turned out kinda cute.

Day 11

Daisy 2

I am working on a painting for a friend and the colors need to be grey, greens or really anything with a "pop" of pink. So for the next few days there will be many sample possibilities showing up.

Day 10

Falling Daisies

This morning, April 20th, instead of daisies, Minneapolis has big white floaty flakes of snow falling from the sky, covering our sprigs of green rising from the earth. Winter will you never end?

Day 7

Belle 1

My little bichon is my model. She yearly appears somewhere in my calendar, so it is likely she will appear in my daily work many times.

Day 6

Poppy's

This morning I got up and painted these poppy's when I went outside I saw the unmelted snow on the tulips, daffodils and pussy willows. Spring comes late to Minnesota, but it doesn't stop me from thinking about it.

Day 5

Love Monkeys

Sometimes the plans in my head don't come out on the paper,
and sometimes my kids don't do what I tell them to do. It's called practice.

I spent over 3 hours working on this painting and finally had to call it. I kept putting layer over layer
and color over color.....anyways this is what I came up with. This is why I am doing
daily work, matching what's in my head to what I want on the paper.
I HAD to post it to prove I did it!

Day 4

Rocket Fish

Today I took a little departure from my normal style of art and tried to recreate something my first grade son drew. It was harder than I thought, even though it doesn't look very hard.

Inspiration

I was inspired by an article in Oprah and another article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Both articles were about women who drew and published their art everyday. One of the women did little oil paintings and posted them on esty. The other women, Nancy Carlson, children's author illustrator (I was lucky enough to take a class from her) publishes a picture blog. I am going to give it a try.
