Yes, you have seen this before. This one however is on canvas. I also drew up a series of red, white and blue back rounds to include the Eiffel Tower and Marie Antoinette. I thought it would be kind of cute.

We were at the Twin's game on Sunday and Coco gets bored so I let her bring her drawing pad and markers and this was her artwork, well it's mine actually, I totally copied her. I was enchanted. Children have

Enchanted Highway in North Dakota

I didn't do any art today. I looked at someone else's art but that was not my agreement. They are the largest metal sculptures in the US. There are currently 8 displayed over a 32 mile stretch of highway and my 5 & 7 year old loved them. This one is Grasshoppers in a field.

This was is titled Fisherman's Dream. I am standing by the tail, you can see the grand scale these pieces encompass.

Lusty Thoughts

I am a few days short of celebrating my one year anniversary as a vegan. We are driving home thru Montana cattle country and stop at this steakhouse for supper (yes, I still stay supper). That beef smelled so good, but I refrained and had a baked potato and some fried onions instead. Since We had been driving since early in the morning I knew I had to do my art sitting at the table waiting for our meal.

Orchard

When I was little my folks bought orchards in Wenatchee Washington. We grew cherries, pears and apples but also had peaches, apricots, plums, italian prunes and walnuts. It is a beautiful place to grow up.

My newlywed sister and her new hubbie bought a Great Dane. They don't own a house, yet and I think it's very optimistic of them to undertake such a challenge.

But with a face like that who couldn't love Maxime? She's nine weeks old and already very big. When she stands on her hind legs she can lay her head on the table.

Whoops! I got up and got decorating for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and was just too tired to paint. This is why I almost always paint the first thing when I get up. My first missed day.

Blackberry Girl

This morning, after a breakfast of starfish & coffee, maple syrup and jam, I took my kidlets down the block to pick big, black, juicy Oregon blackberries growing in an open field. This picture started out as just one big giant blackberry, but cuteness got the best of me and I turned it upside down and added a head and made it into a little wild creature of sorts. Because if you really got the opportunity to wear a giant hat made of a blackberry wouldn't you?

Starfish & Coffee

Today we were at the Portland Zoo (which is fab) and we were at the starfish exhibit. I started to sing the Prince song, Starfish and Coffee da da da da and Jam. For the life of me I couldn't remember the third item in the list. We had to check it out on the iphone. Then tonight, after a couple glasses of wine, in the twilight I drew it up and colored it in.

I did the art but I forgot to scan it before I left and therefore there is no picture. I left on a 2 day road trip from Minneapolis to Portland and am worried I will not get the artwork done everyday.

Another exercise in this particular abstract. This morning however, I took it one step further in my journal and created the entire alphabet around this piece, squares and circles to make animals that corresponded to the appropriate letter.

Iowa and Cardboard

I drove down to Iowa on Monday and had all my art supplies ready to go, when I unloaded the car, I realized I had everything except something to paint on. My sister didn't have any paper thick enough, so I had to improvise. I've always wondered what it would be like to paint on cardboard, so that is what I chose to do.

To Have and to Hold

This is today's piece, a card that I will straighten the edges with an exacto knife when I get home and add a little ribbon to the top. My parents have been married for 50 years this month and I have been thinking about love.

This is Tuesdays, day 113, experiment--not so good. I made a outside frame but the whole thing is such a disaster I think I won't waste anymore time on it. Always good to try.

I could do two versions of this but I can't decide which one I prefer. I'm uncommitted, I up and down, it should be very black and white, but I'm hot and cold about it all. Okay I gotta stop, this really is going nowhere fast.
