Day 50

Trees

I really like this super simple design. Pink and green and happy.

As opposed to the rest of my morning. It all started out fine. I got up early and spent 5 hours painting and like total disaster at the end. It seemed like I made one bad decision after another. Now I have hours of repair to do. All lessons, I suppose.

First I put way too much white, eewww.

I had to reapply the green, and then two layers of magenta.

Somehow it will all work out. But, how? When I close my eyes all I see are the trees and flowers and the big question, how to fix them.

Stay tuned.....

Day 50

Cats with Cupcakes

This morning is about practicing techniques. Two of the cats are charcoal gray underneath and one is a warm toasty color. One cat is outlined with the charcoal, while the other two just let their undercoat be the edging. This is probably all quite boring, but it was rather fun for me.

I realized this week, that if I hadn't committed to painting every morning, most of this would not be happening. It would all be in the form of "I should really try that....." and of course, who has time to "try" things? This may be one of the best things I have done for myself. Even though I am soooooo tired some days.

Day 49

Seven Cousins on a Horse

To be honest, a boyfriend's aunt had done a line painting of 15 children on a horse, presumably all of his cousins. They were all naked and some of them just hanging on, with all their bits and bobs showing. His mom had it hanging in their great room. I was always captivated by it. This is my second attempt to do something like that. It will not be my last.

This was my first try (it's cuter in real) and I need a few extra bodies so I had to add some friends.

Day 48

Dr. K

What do you get someone you don't know that well, who pretty much has everything? Hopefully a bit of a laugh with a homemade card. I totally expect to get ridiculed for this, even after much debate, deciding NOT to put apples on their heads (I might do it over and add apples, why the heck not?). Being ridiculed does add entertainment value, if anyone takes this seriously then I am in trouble.

If you are viewing this right now, and are related to me, you better not tell anyone anything, dig?

Day 44

Happy Garden 8

I am so happy this morning. I was able to recreate this from paper to canvas and I think the effect is lovely. I feel like my daily work is paying off. I am proud of this little piece of art.

For the last 43 days I have been up before 6am (except one day when I slept till 6:20) am I am feeling so tired. Some days I wonder if I should keep at it, and today the answer is yes.

I think this color is so yummy, it looks like some kind of cold, refreshing gelato.

Sometimes when I look at my workspace I am amazed at the beauty in the mess. Nothing is artistically arranged that is exactly how it is. All that luscious color, still looks yummy.

Day 43

Chicken

This is from an old cookie jar my gramma had and finally gave to me. The little chick on top is the handle for the lid.

Day 42

Blackbird

While I was waiting for the paint to dry, I thought I would try this idea several times several ways, this is my favorite.

or maybe this one....

what a mess...but it felt good

"oh, bite me!"

Day 40

Shoot I was thinking of doing a painting of Noah at the beach, since this is day 40. I have been doing this for 40 days (and a few nights).

Girl at the Park

Of course it isn't any girl, it's a girl wearing one of my Florence Eiseman dresses from the 70's.

Day 39

Elephant with heart

Tulip

I had a little extra time so I painted this little tulip.

Decided to make a card. Used some stock paper that I had cut to 10" x 7", then I folded it and took a watercolor crayon and did a little outside decoration. Next I used one of those crafty guns with sticky tape and attached the art to the card.

Voila!

This card can be purchased on etsy for $5.00, as well as any other daily work. $5 for paper art and $10 for canvas.

*Warning: all proceeds go to support my habit

Day 38

Still working on the coloration for the litle girl's room painting. It might be hard to tell, but they are different.

Day 37

The Bird and the B

My 7 year old son took at look at this picture and said, "mom, if this painting was on Dancing with the Stars, it would get a 6."

Day 36

A

My sister saw a few quick sketches I had of an alphabet I had started and asked me why I didn't do the whole thing? So why not?

I said I would put a little more paint on, see, you can trust me.....

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Day 35

Trust Me

Really? How many times have you heard that? Tomorrow I am going to fix this a little better, trust me. It will all work out, trust me. I won't let you down, trust me. All need is a little more time......trust me.

Day 34

If you're wondering, Yes, I do have a bichon

(and I can't stop myself, so here's one more, and surely not the last)

Day 33

Apple Heads

Step 1. Wake up late (5:18 am to be precise) and start to paint.

I have been enamored with Coco's drawing. When I asked her what it was, she nonchalantly said, "It's me with an apple on my head"
I loved that. Who would do that? Anyways I have been drawing children with apples on their heads ever since. It made me laugh, it is so much what life is like, random and funny and seemingly normal, duh, it's me with an apple on my head.

Step 2. Coco gets up at 5:30 and wants to paint, alone time interruptus, take time to set up project for the mini artist, (some of her apples exploded...that is an idea for future paintings)

Step 3. paint backround

Step 4. put it all together, CRAP! find out you didn't cut straight, now what?! Project lost.

Step 5. tear off the uneven edges

Step 6. put the picture on the third layer of paper and finish....whew! Deliver to the Mrs. Caskey, beloved director of preschool. CRAP! I'm late!
