Cherry Orchard

The top painting is when I just had only pink and red on the paper.
Below is how it actually looks with added greens and yellows.

I kind of like the happy pink backround, I was going to paint it blue.
Just for all you orchardists, I did grow up with cherry trees. I know technically flowers and cherries do not come on the tree at the same time, but this is art, so what the hay?
I should add a bichon frise!

Congratulations on Your New Pup!

My mom designed this little card, she probably thought I would do it more babyish,
which maybe I will do tomorrow mom.
(and yes, there is a boy version)

Bird in a Cherry Tree

This is an exact representation of how the cherry trees look in Wenatchee, Washington.

The Big Day

It is 7 am and I've been up for quite a while, drinking coffee and getting packed to the Westie Parade. It is a beautiful day in Minneapolis, so far, and I think it supposed to be a good day. But with 100 little Westies in full costume marching down the main street of Wayzata, how could it not be anything but grand?

Love and Loss

It is a part of life. You get to have to love but then you must bear the loss. I try to picture my little beloved somewhat like this. I still feel her presence with me. This morning, half way between sleep and wake, I heard her give a little sigh, like she used to do. And I knew she was near.

This is a card suggested by the Parade director. I didn't quite know how to go about drawing it or what to say, but my facebook friends gave me lots of ideas, and shared with me some of their special moments with the little loves of their lives.

My friend Jenny laughed when I told her I always cry when I hear my pets songs. She didn't seem to know that pets come with songs. My little one, that just departed, song to me is, "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel. My favorite line is "I don't need clever conversation..." . Oh bother, now I'm starting to tear up. I have lots of work to do today, and crying is not on the schedule.

Hello Friend

I am getting ready for J. J. Hill Days in Wayzata. My friend is responsible for the Westie Parade. A hundred or so little, white Westies in full costume, march down the main street of Wayzata. It is really quite something to behold. Last year, for the 10th anniversary of 911, the pups went as firefighters.

This year I have created a Westie calendar for the club. Notecards might be a good idea too. Hello.

You Make Me Happy

I took a photo of the sun.
I altered it with my computer and then I painted it.
I took a photo of my painting.
I altered the painting with my computer.
I added words.
I'm getting warmer.
I'm getting happy.

Even though the title of this post is "YOU Make Me Happy",
apparently it is all about Me, my deepest apologies.

A new beginning of sorts

because it's been somewhat the same all along.

 (September is my personal favorite)

It's done.
The painting part, anyways.
The finishing part has yet to be determined.
This is the 2013 Westie Calendar. Twelve delightful months of frolicking pups.
Yippee!

Here it is, all laid out in it's original, raw form.

I like November with it's "westie" masterpieces. I renamed the artists, Doglo Picasso, Henri Westisse and Puppicelli.

Life goes on. So does our pursuit of happiness. Painting has always made me happy. It is something I have to do.
