The Edina Art Crawl

My window display at dpHue on France Avenue

Outside the store--my entry--my voting # is 3

I applied the 23rd of January and was accepted to participate and assigned to dpHue a new concept store in home hair coloring. Part of the contest was to collaborate with the stores and together come up with an idea for their window. The managers at dpHue suggested I do a grouping of mini paintings. The photo above is the final result.

The show is Saturday, March 16th from 3 - 5pm. I will be at dpHue during those hours. Everything is for sale. There is a peoples choice award, so you can vote for your favorite artist (my # is 3). The artwork and displays will be in the stores thru the 24th of March, so if you can't make it down today, come during business hours anytime during the next week. Hope to see you there!

Inside the store--the backside of my display

dpHue is a beautifully modern store. Very sleek, clean and streamlined. I needed to come up with a way to display my artwork. There was no way to hang anything from the ceiling for support, so I decided it had to be a free standing unit. It was a challenge for me because I have no tools.

After many nights of laying awake trying to figure something out, I thought maybe I could make a wooden slip cover for a base. Rob, at Settegren's Hardware in Linden Hills, was invaluable. He was a scenery designer for movies for 18 years. He told me about a lightweight wood product I could use. He said to use glue, with the nails. I searched and found a valet stand at Ikea and used that for the base.

Here are some of the additional pieces that will be at the Art Crawl

All artwork will be available on Etsy after the Art Crawl
